On September 19, 2015 my husband and I lost our daughter, Hannah Grace. She was stillborn with an unknown cause as to why she passed. I was thirty-five weeks along in my pregnancy just about ready to welcome the life of my daughter and bring her home. The day before her birth I realized that I had not felt her moving for quite some time. Extremely nervous, afraid, and full of prayer I headed to the hospital only to find out that her heart had stopped beating. While waiting to start labor to meet our daughter for the first and last time, my husband and I decided that we wanted to do something to help other families who are unfortunately going to have to experience the same grief we did. The only thing we were certain of was to name it Hannah's Grace in memory of our daughter. After we took our time to grieve and get settled into our new life, I opened up a donation through my newly started business to give necklaces to mothers at my local hospital who have lost their babies. I named that donation Hannah's Grace as a start to our new business.

The idea of weighting teddy bears came when I received a stuffed bear as a gift for the loss of my daughter. Part of me wanted to keep it but the other part didn't know what to do with it because I just wanted to give it to my baby. I finally decided to weight my bear to Hannah's birth weight and embroider a onesie for the bear with Hannah's birth information. Shortly after making my bear for myself, I found out that a close family friend lost her 2 month old son to SIDS right before Christmas. I knew that I needed to get a bear and make one for her just like mine. She received her bear the day after her tragedy and has used it to help her during the hard days.

After reaching out to my family friend, Hannah's Grace started to reach out to other mothers at my local hospital and through my business. Now we are reaching out to you and your family to help comfort you during your time of loss. We would love to weight a bear for you and get your fully made bear back to you as soon as possible. We understand some of the grief you and your family are going through during this difficult time. We would like to help give you some comfort of filling those empty, longing arms with a beautiful bear weighted to fit the weight of your child.

With this business we are also working on opening a foundation where five dollars of every bear will be donated to Hannah's Grace Foundation. Through this foundation we will be helping other parents of infant loss by donating money to our local hospitals to help pay for some of the medical bills for the birth of their miscarried or stillborn baby. We will also be donating money to local funeral homes to help pay for some of the funeral arrangements for parents of infant loss.
